Airports and airlines

Airplane communications are very important particularly between the islands and the main land.Local airline is Air Calédonie.

Most of the Grande Terre councils nd all the islands have an airport.

The international airport is located at Tontouta, 50 km North of Nouméa. It was initially built by the US army during WWII.

Regional and international local carrier is Air Calin which is pooled with Air France. Australian, New-Zealand and Vanuatu airlines are also coming to New Caledonia. Main routes go to France, Australia, New-Zealand, Japan, French Polynesia and Vanuatu.
