Narrow-barred Spanish mackerels (Scomberomorus commerson, French : "tazard") live in groups which enter the lagoon seasonnally. When a spear-gun hunter dives and remain as long as possible motionless under water, this fish, being curious, then approches him and gets easily speared. The large specimen can give ciguatera. For this reason New-Caledonians prefer to eat the Wahoo (Acanthocybium solandri) named by them "tazards du large".
